Ben Schwartz

Ben Schwartz was part of the Centre from September 2025 until June 2026. He was a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Philosophy. His research focused upon the impact of recent and emerging technologies on human flourishing. His work argued that the attention economy underlying recent digital technologies is an impediment to human flourishing, to autonomy, to intimate personal relationships, and to the crucial virtues that involve attention.

Following his time at the University of Edinburgh, he was appointed as a Postdoctoral Associate in Social and Ethical Responsibilities of Computing at the MIT Department of Linguistics and Philosophy.
