Savina Kim

Savina’s PhD research project was on Fairness in AI, co-supervised in the Business School and the School of Informatics.

Savina’s work explored the responsible usage of AI, in particular, algorithmic fairness with applications to the financial industry during a transformative Open Banking movement. Her aim was to help solve pressing societal issues, including expansion of credit access to underserved populations. She holds a MSc degree in Neural Systems and Computation from ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich’s Institute of Neuro-Informatics and a BA double degree in Cognitive Science and Economics from Yale University.  Previously, she has worked as a researcher at IBM focusing on transparent and trustworthy machine learning design and has finance experience as an investment banking analyst in NYC. Savina has a keen interest in the intersection of machine learning interpretability, fairness & bias and ethical AI design.
