SJ Bennett

While at the Centre for Technomoral Futures, SJ Bennett was a postdoctoral researcher in a research collaboration between the CTMF and the Data for Children Collaborative with UNICEF. 

Their work centres on the ethics of data and data-driven outputs involving vulnerable populations, investigating best practices for data ethics frameworks in the third sector. Prior to joining the Centre, they did their PhD at the University of Edinburgh College of Art’s Institute of Design Informatics, where they investigated AI practitioner values and the implications of interactions between AI practice and contexts of development for engagement with ethical reflection. Previously they completed a BA in Linguistics, an MSc in Artificial Intelligence, and worked in data analytics in the NHS.

SJ was a postdoctoral researcher with the Centre from Nov 2021 until Apr 2023. Dr SJ Bennett is now a Research Associate at Durham University.
