Beatrice Bonami

Dr Beatrice Bonami is a Brazilian Science, Technology, and Society (STS) scholar and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, focusing on the planetary networks and materiality of AI systems (with specific focus on data centres in the Global South). Her interdisciplinary research investigates epistemic justice, alterontologies, eco-philosophy, decoloniality, and non-Western perspectives in technology. Grounding theoretical frameworks in empirical reality, she has directed extensive ethnographic projects across the South American Amazon Rainforest; and West, East and South Africa. At Edinburgh, her work critically advocates for pluralistic, non-Western, and sustainable ancestral technoscience futures.
