Robin Hillenbrink

CTMF Visiting PhD Researcher from September - October 2026

Robin Hillenbrink is a PhD candidate in Philosophy at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. Her research focuses on socially disruptive technologies, conceptual disruption and change, and technomoral change. Her dissertation, What We Could Not Express Before: The Role of Conceptual Change in Technomoral Change, examines how emerging technologies require the reshaping of current moral concepts, and how these concepts can in turn be used as tools for expressing moral concerns, guiding ethical decision-making, and shaping (public) debate and legislation. Currently a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Technomoral Futures, Edinburgh Futures Institute, University of Edinburgh, she is completing the concluding chapters of her dissertation, developing the practical implications of moral conceptual change for future technomoral progress in relation to emerging disruptive technologies and human capabilities.
