Dr Beatrice Bonami is a Brazilian Science, Technology, and Society (STS) scholar and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, focusing on the planetary networks and materiality of AI systems (with specific focus on data centres in the Global South).

A CTMF Visiting PhD Researcher from Sept - Oct 2026, Robin Hillenbrink is a PhD candidate in Philosophy at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. Her research focuses on socially disruptive technologies, conceptual disruption and change, and technomoral change.

Xin’s research explores the social and ethical dimensions of AI production through ethnographic research on data annotation labour in rural China. She has research interests in anthropology, STS, digital labour, and AI ethics.

Nayantara’s research project examines how digital technologies are reshaping humanitarian care. She is interested in humanitarian innovation, the politics of aid, and refugee governance in the SWANA region.

Saimun’s work focuses on using formal methods in causality, neurosymbolic AI, and AI alignment in order to make legible the limits of computational systems operating in consequential social contexts.

Building on her dual background in philosophy and data science, Stella is applying causal modelling to compare blood transfusion strategies in critical care, while conducting critical ethical analysis of the ways that causal methods are “sold” in academic literature.

Adaobi is a doctoral researcher examining how African governance frameworks and ethical traditions can shape equitable, responsible and community-aligned approaches to genomics, biobanking and health data use.

Alex’s PhD is exploring the impacts of Digital Immortality Technologies and the possible regulatory or ethical frameworks that could mitigate harm, pulling on considerations in HCI, Digital Ethics, and AI Regulation.
